Here are some of the differences between Sativa and Indica flowers and their possible effects. Sativa’s are known as “sit-up” so essentially have a more “energetic” feel to them after consumption. Indica’s are known as “in-da-couch” feeling after consumption. Having said that, everyone metabolises cannabinoids differently so affects may vary from one person to another.

Hybrids are a mix of both sativa and indica. Hybrids can be a good mix of both but can also be sativa-leaning or Indica-leaning.

THC stands for delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. It is a cannabinoid molecule in marijuana (cannabis) that’s recognized as the main psychoactive ingredient that causes people to feel high. THC content is expressed as mg/g or as a percentage of mg per gram. This is often referred to as "potency." THC is intoxicating and can produce a variety of intended effects, but consuming too much or choosing a product with a high potency potential can produce harmful or negative effects. We always recommend to starting at low potency’s to see how your body reacts.

Terpenes are fragrant oils that produce a unique taste and smell in the different cannabis strains. The tastes and smells of the terpenes vary from earthy, woodsy, herbal, spicy, diesel or cheesy, all the way to citrusy, sweet, and floral. Essentially, each cannabis strain has its own unique terpene profile.

Terpenes are naturally occurring chemical compounds found in plants and some animals. They’re responsible for the aromas, flavors, and even colors associated with various types of vegetation. In terms of cannabis, terpenes are what make certain strains smell or taste different from others. The chart shows some of the more common terpenes and their effects. However, each person may experience the effects differently.

CBD does not give you a “high” but rather reacts with our own Endocannabinoid System to have an effect on both mind and body. It almost has no intoxicating effects. For quick relief consider vaporizing high-CBD strains that have their botanicals contained such as full spectrum CBD vapes. It is also recommended to ingest lab-tested, high grade CBD oil/capsules. CBD beverages, teas and edibles are also effective.

We are a legal cannabis store authorized by the Ontario Cannabis Store. It is important to shop in legal dispensaries so quality can be traced back to the licensed producer. THC/CBD content is clearly stated on the packaging with some licensed producers going a step further and including their terpene content. With information clearly displayed on the packaging, our budtenders will help you decide on the right product for you whether you are a novice user or an experienced one. We encourage our customer’s to always look at the packaging date as well total THC levels and terpene % for an ultimate shopping experience at The Leaf Collection.
